Best Dog Beaches in Perth
Perth has some of the best dog beaches in the world, with several of Perth’s Councils providing designated beautiful beaches for dogs to swim, run & have fun.
We are so fortunate to have access with our pets to such spectacular beaches.
To play and watch your pet (not to mention the exercise) is priceless. There are several of these stunning dog beaches dotted along the Perth Metro coast.
If you would like to give your best friend this great experience, Perth Pet Taxi will transport your dog to any of these designated dog beaches and return. The beach outings need to be booked at least 48 hours in advance as this service is extremely popular. We hope you enjoy scrolling down the page.
Whitfords / Hillarys Dog Beach
Whitfords / Hillarys dog beach is the perfect summer retreat to cool off, and a very popular dog beach with its easy access, beautiful white sand and relatively flat water.
Dogs are also able to exercise off-leash at certain times, please read the signs provided.
Peasholm Street Dog Beach
The popular Peasholm Street Dog beach is slightly south of Scarborough.
The dog beach stretches for over one km to the south, allowing your canine buddy to burn off all that excess energy.
When conditions are calm, this is a great spot to go for a swim together. Peasholm Street Dog beach offers a fresh water tap to rinse the salt off and get a well-deserved drink.
Mosman-Leighton Dog Beach
This is a great spot for all dog owners! It is usually a quiet beach through the week which allows your pet a chance to stretch their legs.
Saturday mornings are usually busy and from the road can look like a furry frenzy. Having over 1.5 km of pristine, relatively flat beach this provides ample room for pooch play.
With Rottnest Island as the back drop and the iconic red cranes of Fremantle Port to the south, this is a unique place to just kick back and enjoy being together. We would suggest bringing a lead rope to assist managing your dog’s curiosity as kite surfers often launch from here.
CY O’Connor Beach
Heading south lays CY O’Connor Beach that stretches from South Fremantle to McTaggart Cove to the south.
It is gazetted by the City of Cockburn as a dog exercise beach. Dogs are able to be free off a leash as long as they are under effective control at all times, such as the dog responding to the owner's command and the dog not act in an aggressive or threatening manner.
This long stretch of dog-friendly coastline is rarely crowded, having the nearby Garden Island sheltering its calm waters. Also the eerie abandoned Fremantle Power Station to the southern end provides a somewhat alternative beach-side vista.
